SUMMER LIBRARY PROGRAM

About the Summer Library Program

From June 6 through August 19, read and complete activities to earn prizes (kids & teens) and enter to win a grand prize (all ages). Print off a brochure below, pick one up at the library starting May 15, or use our  virtual reading program, Beanstack . Please pick just one way to participate.

Preschool, School-Age, and Teens:

Earn prizes, free books, and chances to win a grand prize for every activity you complete and each hour of reading you do. You can earn up 3 books and some coupons to local businesses this summer!  Or grab a trinket from the treasure chest. You can also enter to win the Grand Prize! You earn your first free book and chance to win a grand prize just by completing Adventure One – Read a Book!

Adult Reading Program:

Anyone age 18 and up is invited to participate by reading and writing brief reviews.  Visit the library to pick up book review entry slips or print the PDF at home.  Return you reviews to the library June 6 through August 19 to enter the weekly prize drawing. We’ll draw a weekly winner for a $10 gift certificate. The more reviews you write, the more chances to win! Or create an account at kaukaunalibrary.beanstack.org to record your reading, write reviews, and enter to win online. It’s a great paperless option!

What Is Beanstack? How do I sign up?

Beanstack is an online software that the Library will be using this summer to make summer reading easy, even if when you can’t get to the library! Consider Beanstack a one-stop-shop for Summer Library Program for everyone on your family.  Getting started is easy! Visit the Kaukauna Library Beanstack page or download the Beanstack Tracker app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play . Once you’re registered you can sign up for the programs in each person’s age group (Beanstack calls them Challenges) Summer Library Program registration opens May 15.  Starting on June 6 you can log in, select the person you want to log an activity for and record your completed reading and activities.  When you earn a badge (complete an activity) you’ll be notified about what reward you won (kids and teens) and be prompted to enter for a Grand Prize Drawing. Kids and teens earn an entry from completing Adventure One and for completing all 9 adventures.  Adults earn an entry for writing book reviews. Visit the library to collect any rewards you earn starting June 6 to August 19.

What about a paper reading and activity log?

We want Summer Library Program to be for everyone! Visit the library to pick up a paper reading log for your child or print one at home: preschool (English)/(Spanish), school-age (English) /(Spanish), or teenage (English) /(Spanish).  We have book review entry slips for adults, too.  Read and complete the same activities as in Beanstack for rewards and grand prize entry slips.  When you’re ready, visit the library to collect your prizes starting June 6.

Frequently Asked Questions

Remember, everybody can participate using the paper tracker or on the Beanstack website/app.  You can read and complete challenges any time from June 6 to August 19.  Lots of kids are worried that they might miss something if they go on vacation for a couple of weeks, or because they are busy with summer school, sports, other activities, or jobs – don’t worry- we will have all the prizes until August 19, so that gives you plenty of time to finish the program.  You can complete activities in any order and collect your prizes anytime too. The prize drawing will take place on August 22 and winners will be notified on Monday, August 22.

What if you can’t get to the library?

The great thing about Beanstack and the online program is that it keeps track of all of your prizes for you! You can enter the grand prize drawings right through Beanstack.  When you are ready, visit the library to collect your prizes – you can come in every week or two, or all at once– you don’t have to come on certain dates or each week, you can come to the library to collect prizes when you can get to us.  Just be sure to pick up your prizes by August 19.

What about programs and events?

We have lots of fun events happening this summer! Visit the Events calendar for more details.  Every Monday, stop in for Maker Monday!
